Chromecast: Google’s answer to Apple TV

Published on July th, 2013

Google launched it’s new streaming media hardware the Chromecast to compete with other media boxes like the Roku and Apple TV and with a smaller form factor as well as a low price tag.  Currently the applications on the Chromecast are limited to Youtube, Netflix, the Google Play Store, and the chrome browser, which supports html5 and flash, which would allow applications like hulu to be streamed from a PC.  It should be noted that the unit is not powered over HDMI and requires a power adapter.   At a price tag of $35, it will be much easier to upgrade your television to smart TV for a fraction of the price.
